At Autodesk University 2025, Autodesk unveiled its vision for an agentic era of AI - where intelligent systems act autonomously, collaborate with people, and accelerate innovation. Customers will benefit and unlock creativity by eliminating non-productive work, getting faster design iterations, better insights and generating project presentations automatically. With more than fifteen years of AI research, the AI tools in Autodesk products are ready to help customers embrace this transformation in AEC, Manufacturing and Entertainment.

Autodesk AI is already embedded in the Autodesk Platform (cloud), and its newly introduced MCP servers. Today, many AI-based tools are available in existing Autodesk products – such as Fusion, AutoCAD, Forma Site Design, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Maya and Flow Studio. But the most visible part of the AI components in Autodesk products will be the Autodesk Assistant. Designed to accelerate design and manufacturing workflows, the AI-based Autodesk Assistant also prioritises data security and compliance.
What is Autodesk Assistant?
Autodesk Assistant is a conversational, generative AI experience designed to work seamlessly within Autodesk tools - supporting natural, local languages and even voice control. Autodesk Assistant is not just another LLM, it understands design geometry, its features, modelling principles and properties. Its purpose is to apply this knowledge to reduce friction, simplify tasks, and support faster, more informed decision makings. Think of it as an intuitive gateway to AI capabilities that enhance and streamline design processes.
Autodesk has previewed some of the new AI features at Autodesk University and some AI tools are already available as technical previews (subject to change when released).
Autodesk Assistant in Fusion
Fusion is the Autodesk software with most existing AI functions – from AI-assisted sketch constraints, over generative design up to AI-generated drawing views and annotations. Autodesk Assistant will extend these AI features with:
Onboarding & Collaboration
- Assistant uses natural language to create projects, organise folders, and invite collaborators - all in one step. It confirms changes before applying them, offering an alternative to traditional management tools.Neural CAD
- Turn prompts like “create a contemporary air fryer” into editable 3D geometry in Fusion, from a blank canvas, moving beyond static meshes to modifiable design data.
Text to Command
- Describe actions in plain language - “extrude this face by 1 inch” or “add a 0.5 mm chamfer to all edges” - and Assistant executes Fusion commands. Users can save multi-step sequences as reusable prompts, streamlining repetitive tasks.Microsoft AI Media Generation
- Through Autodesk’s collaboration with Microsoft, Assistant will generate PowerPoint presentations and visuals from natural-language prompts, reducing time spent on formatting.Manufacturing Advisor
- Assistant will guide CAM programmers and machinists by answering workflow questions and performing tasks such as “make me a milling setup”. Over time, it will apply best-practice templates and align programming with design intent.

Autodesk Assistant in Vault
Assistant will make data management conversational. Issue commands like “show me the latest released valve assembly” or “update drawings for revision C” and Assistant will translate those prompts into accurate searches and automated actions. Even new Vault users will be able to operate like power users, helping organisations unlock more value from their Vault investment.
Autodesk Assistant in AutoCAD
The current Assistant in AutoCAD and the wider AutoCAD family already helps users by recommending optimised command workflows. The new localised Assistant will take this further - making design and scheduling tasks conversational. You will be able to use commands (prompts) such as “show me the blocks inserted in the layer Sewer” or “select all yellow texts” or “check drawing standards” . These commands will trigger accurate searches, checks and other automated actions, streamlining everyday workflows quicker and easier, even for new users.

Autodesk Assistant in Revit
As with AutoCAD, the current Autodesk Assistant in Revit focuses on recommending the best practises and how-to guidance for individual commands. The new Autodesk Assistant will enable a more conversational approach to editing and querying BIM projects. Natural language commands such as “enlarge all widows in south façade by 10%” or “select all rooms on Level 2 larger than 20 sq. m” will simplify tasks that previously required complex selection sets or object filters, making BIM workflows more efficient. Additionally, the integration of AI-assisted Forma design directly within Revit will unlock new possibilities for more productive AEC design.
