From Fabrication Parts to feedback: Be.Smart MEP Hangers updates

22 September 2025

The Be.Smart MEP Hangers tool for Revit has a new update, bringing better support for Fabrication Parts, easier onboarding, and more ways to connect with our team. Read on to see what’s new

Proper Fabrication Parts support

Until now, Fabrication Parts support in MEP Hangers was very limited. Only Fabrication Hangers were allowed on Fabrication Ductwork, Pipework, and Containment. Because of this, the flexible functionality the tool offered with hanger families (.RFA) was not supported for Fabrication Parts.

The current release removes this limitation. Users can now place .RFA families on Fabrication Parts, just like with generic MEP categories – Ducts, Pipes, Cable Trays, and Conduits. This unlocks many more hanger placement possibilities: creating wall supports, rooftop supports, attaching hangers to existing supports (multi-tier hangers), and much more. Using families (.RFA) also brings the general ease of use and flexibility to quickly modify hangers and customize them for specific needs.

To explore the new functionality, simply use the application as usual – select Fabrication Parts in the view, click Insert Hangers, and choose the configuration. To get FabParts configurations, you can either create new ones or modify existing ones – for example, duplicate a Pipe configuration and change the Hangers Placed On value to MEP Fabrication Pipework. Sample configurations (including FabParts examples) are created when an empty folder is selected in Configuration Files Location, or you can download them here.

Hangers on Linked MEP, now with FabParts

In case you missed it, earlier MEP Hangers update introduced the ability to place hangers and supports on MEP elements in linked files (see the video below).

That same functionality now extends to Fabrication Parts, giving you more flexibility across project workflows.

Here is a quick preview:

Ask Us: Your new help & feedback hub

We’ve introduced Ask Us – a new section in the toolbar that brings support, learning, and feedback into one place

Here you can:

  • Request a Feature – submit feature requests, report bugs, or share general feedback to help us prioritize development.

  • Contact Support – reach the support team for help or questions.

  • Access Resources – including Product Documentation and the Getting Started Guide.

  • View the Roadmap – see upcoming features and plans.

Improved getting started workflow

For new users, the getting started process is now much easier. We’ve removed roadblocks so you can start placing hangers in minutes.

The tool now detects if you don’t have hanger and support families loaded and will suggest downloading them.

We’ve also updated the sample content. New sample configurations (including the FabParts examples) feature the most common setups, with recommended configurations sorted at the top. Each configuration now includes a Description explaining what it does.

Sample models – showcasing different configurations and providing a testing environment – are also updated. You can find and download them here.

Numbers & Coordinates: Smarter data management

And lastly, there’s one more addition to the toolbar – Numbers & Coordinates. This lets you create and run rule-based configurations to batch-number elements or extract data (coordinates, room/space, or host data). It supports all Revit elements, not just hangers or MEP.

This functionality is what you may know as the Sort Mark tool, which is included in the MEP Hangers bundle. Sort Mark as a separate tool will be discontinued in 2026 as part of our initiative to simplify our documentation-focused tools.

Until 2026, there’s a transition period during which both Sort Mark and Numbers & Coordinates will be available. We recommend migrating your configurations to Numbers & Coordinates. You can follow this migration guide.

Having Numbers & Coordinates directly in the MEP Hangers ribbon also allows us to provide sample configurations tailored for MEP engineers. You can access them via the Batch Numbering command.

Why it matters

This release makes MEP Hangers more flexible, easier to use, and better connected to your workflows. From Fabrication Parts to feedback, every update is designed to save you time and expand your options in Revit projects.

We’d love to hear what you think. Share your feedback anytime through Ask Us → Request a Feature or Contact Support.
