Submittals are a key part of project delivery, but the review process often creates unnecessary friction. When teams have to download files, mark them up separately, and upload them back again, reviews take longer and the risk of version confusion increases. The Be.Smart Connector is built to reduce that friction by connecting Autodesk Forma (previously Autodesk Construction Cloud) and Bluebeam in one smoother workflow.
What’s new in this update
With the latest Be.Smart Connector update, users can handle Autodesk Submittals in a more connected way. Reference PDFs can be transferred to Bluebeam for markup and then returned directly into the Submittals workflow, helping teams keep reviews moving without extra file handling. The workflow supports transferring files between Autodesk Submittals and Bluebeam Studio Projects or Sessions.
Better visibility for reviewers
This workflow is valuable because it keeps reviewers connected to the actual submittal process, not just to a detached PDF. Users can see the files assigned to them, reference documents, completed steps from previous reviewers, and the next action they need to take. Permissions also follow the user’s Autodesk account, which helps keep the process controlled and relevant.
How the workflow works
Users select the assigned submittal, send the reference PDF to Bluebeam, complete markups, transfer the updated PDF back through the connector, and submit the review step. The updated file and status then appear immediately in Autodesk Submittals.
