Transformation at work: Chief Technician embraces centralised workflows with Autodesk

Discover how the Chief Technician at Linthorst, is transforming industrial projects with Autodesk solutions, moving teams from scattered information to efficiency and collaboration with centralised workflows.

Transformation at work spotlights professionals driving change. We share real-world examples of people successfully advancing business and zoom-in on what is working.

Bringing collaboration and clarity to complex projects

For Gerben Prinsen, Chief Technician at Linthorst, the daily challenge isn’t just installing HVAC systems, it’s making sure his team has the right information at the right time. On complex infrastructure projects, coordinating installations with the office and general contractor schedules used to be a constant balancing act.

The challenge

During project execution, the Chief Technician steps in to coordinate site installations. He relies heavily on the office for drawings and planning information. Previously, scattered files, unverified sketches, and ad-hoc communication led to delays and construction errors. Prinsen shares “The new workflows that have been implemented, ensure that not just anything can go outside anymore… information that is not supposed to reach us no longer reaches us.”

The approach

Together with ARKANCE, Linthorst formed a working group to develop and implement Autodesk Forma (formerly Autodesk Construction Cloud). The new system has centralised data, introduced structured workflows, and improved compliance with the Dutch Quality Assurance Act. Forma workflows prevent unverified drawings from reaching the site, reducing errors and rework.

Gerben also helps train fitters and technicians, guiding them on how to find drawings, report issues, and use checklists and templates. Although there is resistance to the increased digital work (technicians are more accustomed to working with their hands than tablets and laptops), Gerben is confident that the system will save time.

The biggest difference is that now information is in the cloud. Everyone works in it and it is in one place, everything comes together smoother.

The outcome

Modern tools like Autodesk Forma Data Management (formerly Docs) and Forma Design Collaboration (formerly BIM Collaborate Pro), help create one common data environment for all project data, improving coordination between teams, and setting a foundation for better project control. For a Chief Technician, this means fewer errors, smoother project execution, and a clear pathway to modernising site workflows.

Through this on-going partnership, ARKANCE helps guide, train, equip and empower office and site teams to collaborate more effectively.
